Why we built this

Online PDF tools are incredibly useful, but most of them require uploading your files to remote servers. For contracts, medical records, financial documents, and internal reports, that's a meaningful privacy tradeoff. Dr.PDF provides the same breadth of functionality as traditional cloud PDF platforms, with client-side processing as a core architectural choice - not an afterthought.

How it works

Dr.PDF uses pdf-lib and PDF.js for core PDF operations, Tesseract.js for OCR, and LibreOffice for high-quality Office conversions when deployed with server support. Browser libraries provide fallbacks when server conversion is unavailable. PDF files are not stored on our servers.
